Introduction

International Relations
The multi-discipline subject of International Relations is a study field which focuses on international political issues and topics such as international security, foreign policy, political economy, and international organizations. Students who pursue an International Relations degree will be introduced to global issues, concerns and opportunities from an international relations perspective. These areas will be reviewed from both historical and current perspectives and students will be provided with a general framework for analysis of contemporary global relations matters.

Furthermore, through development of conflict management skills students will improve their ability to assess the likelihood of future international conflicts, their resolutions and their impact on the global community. Awareness of the informal "rules" and the roles of decision makers that influence the degree of conflict and change in international relations will also be enhanced. Overall, competencies in international relations-cross cultural relations, resource management, public policy, human rights, comparative politics, diplomacy, international political economy and contemporary issues-are essential for IR graduates in preparing to meet the challenges and requirements of an international relations career.

This degree program has three specific objectives:

  • To provide you with a comprehensive knowledge of basic concepts, theories and methods in international relations
  • To provide you with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the various and changing needs of public and private sector international organizations from an international relations perspective
  • To prepare you for international relations career opportunities in international organizations

In this spirit and with this understanding, the undergraduate degree in International Relations is offered.
